Astronauts aboard the International Space Station ventured outside Tuesday to replace a space-to-ground antenna used for high-speed communications with NASA’s Mission Control in Houston. The roughly six-and-a-half-hour spacewalk included French astronaut Sophie Adenot, who became the first French woman to perform a spacewalk outside the ISS. #NASA#spacewalk

First spacewalk completed for Sophie Adenot 🧑‍🚀✅ Our astronaut Sophie Adenot and NASA astronaut Anil Menon successfully completed US EVA-97 at 20:52 CEST on 18 August. It was Sophie’s first spacewalk and the first spacewalk conducted by a French woman. During the 6-hour, 23-minute spacewalk, they removed the failed Space-To-Ground Antenna 2 (SGANT-2). Stuck bolts and connectors delayed the work, leading Mission Control to postpone installation of the replacement antenna to a future spacewalk.
