This weeks embroidery tip is especially helpful for embroidering on clothing or any item that you plan to wash 🧺 always tie off your thread before moving on to a new section so that your thread doesn’t snag in the wash or when you’re wearing the item What other embroidery questions do you have? Would love to answer yours next week for another Sunday Sip n’ Stitch | Thread Unraveled

I broke/bent 6 needles in the process of making this 😅 here’s what I learned: - small needles are easiest to get through the material. - needle nose pliers are an absolute must. Do not attempt without them 😅 - After you get the needle through the silicone, pull the rest of the thread through by holding on to the actual thread, not the needle, or the needle will weaken the thread and rip right through the thread 😅 Comment “bows” for a bunch of cute bow patterns and I’ll also link the needle no

But Sarah, what if the pattern asks for an odd number of strands?? This trick will only work for an even number of strands, but I’ll let you in on a little secret 🤫 an embroidery pattern telling you how many strands to use is really just a suggestion. You can use as many strands as YOU want 😉 so if the pattern says 3, you could use 2 or 4 and it’s going to be juuuust fine 👌 Have you tried threading your needle like this?? It’s especially helpful when trying to use all 6 strands so that you’re

When I’m creating a pattern, I usually always start out by drawing my ideas on my iPad. Once I’ve come up with something I like, I embroider it and make changes as I go. When the embroidery is done, I take a picture of the finished piece and trace it on my iPad to get my final pattern. 👻 Comment “GHOUL GARDEN” and I’ll send you the link for this pattern. Or if you don’t want to comment, head to my shop linked in my bio and search “GHOUL GARDEN” 🪴 | Thread Unraveled

Stitching through elastic is surprisingly therapeutic 😅 and the answer is yes, yes you can embroider elastic. Just make sure that your design still allows for some stretching like this one! Learning embroidery doesn’t have to be intimidating 🦋 just take a simple outline and color it in with thread. this paper I’m using is helpful because it’s easier to trace a pattern onto it rather than trying to trace it onto thick or dark fabrics. Comment PAPER for the link | Thread Unraveled

Part 1: prepping the dress for embroidery 🥰 I added an iron-on stabilizer to the back to help prevent puckering and add stability while I stitch, especially since the fabric is thin and I don’t like to use an embroidery hoop for clothing embroidery. Last night I sat on my couch, watched a show, and embroidered—no camera, no perfect lighting. Just a girl with a needle and thread taking some much-needed quiet time.
