Matthew Robert Targett (born 18 September 1995) is a professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Premier League club Newcastle United. He has represented both Scotland and England at youth international level.

Targett is a defender who initially joined United on loan from Villa in the January 2022 transfer window. After an impressive temporary stint at St. James' Park, he signed permanently in the summer of 2022, adding experience to the Magpies' ranks having made more than 100 top flight appearances for Southampton and Villa.
