SB Nation on MSNNew York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox: Will Warren vs. Garrett Crochet
It’s been a crappy start to the weekend. The Yankees lost on Thursday because the pitching couldn’t hold it together, and lost last night because the offense couldn’t manage much of anything. The bare minimum for this four-game series is a split, but they’ll have to try and get that against a Cy Young contender.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Brayan Bello has been dominant against the Yankees in his career. Bello continued that dominance on Friday.
The scoreless stalemate was broken by Lowe. The newcomer continues to change games for the Red Sox. On Friday night, it was with a pinch-hit first-pitch double off Mark Leiter Jr., which opened the door for Wong to break the tie with an RBI double to the left-field corner in the top of the seventh. The Red Sox are 70-59.
