Major League Soccer (MLS) apologised on Thursday after saying Celtic's Japanese forward Kyogo Furuhashi had signed for Atlanta United when in fact it was his compatriot Cayman Togashi who had joined the U.

A news released published on the MLS website claimed that Atlanta had “acquired” Kyogo before it was deleted. The US club, who are managed by former Celtic boss Ronny Delia, had previously been linked with the 29-year-old Japan international Kyogo.

Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano said on Thursday it was "impossible" to even consider bringing Neymar to the club.
