Six people have died, and more than 100 others have been sickened in a Legionnaires’ disease outbreak centered in New York City. The situation has prompted an aggressive sweep of building cooling towers and an urgent warning to residents and workers with flu-like symptoms.

About one in 10 people who get sick from Legionnaires' disease die from the disease due to complications from illness, CDC said.
