Texas football will replace its spring game with some type of fan event, according to athletic director Chris Del Conte.

AUSTIN — Texas announced Thursday that it will not hold a spring football game for the first time in head coach Steve Sarkisian’s four-year Longhorn tenure. Sarkisian made the announcement on a football podcast and cited the wear and tear of two consecutive long seasons as the reason for the cancellation.
