Phillies President of Baseball Operations, Dave Dombrowski, announced after Saturday’s game that superstar pitcher Zack Wheeler will be placed on the 15-day IL after the team discovered a blood clot.

Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler underwent a thrombolysis procedure to remove a blood clot in his right upper extremity, the club announced Monday, firmly putting the remainder of his season in doubt.

The 35-year-old Wheeler was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a blood clot after experiencing worsening shoulder soreness.
