BRUSSELS/MOSCOW/KYIV — European leaders will join Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Washington on Monday, in an attempt to seek an end to the Ukraine conflict. It follows US President Donald Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday that failed to produce any breakthrough.

Ahead of a meeting with President Trump, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine noted that Russia’s 2014 seizure of Ukrainian land became “a springboard for a new attack.”

Trump will meet the Ukrainian leader, along with several European heads of state and the NATO Secretary-General, on Monday.
