SDG&E shut off power last week to thousands of San Diego customers as Santa Ana Winds blew through Southern California. The conditions led to multiple wildfires that have destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people in the Los Angeles area as forecasters again warned of dangerous weather with the return of strong winds this week.

The Port of San Diego swore in its 2025 officers of the Board of Port Commissioners Tuesday, handing the reins over to San Diego appointee Danielle Moore. Moore, the chair, was joined in board leadership by Vice Chair and Chula Vista appointee Ann Moore,

"If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable for very rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior," the NWS warns.
