Heavy rains in India's financial capital Mumbai have disrupted the lives of millions of people, submerging roads and leading to flight and train cancellations. Many parts of the city remain inundated in waist-deep water, with videos showing residents swimming through waterlogged roads as garbage gushed out from clogged sewers.

Mumbai’s relentless monsoon has shattered records with 891 mm rainfall in August, crippling transport, causing evacuations, power outages, and 21 deaths statewide. IMD has downgraded the red alerts, but Maharashtra continues to reel.

Mumbai is facing more heavy rain after a deluge that’s delayed flights, disrupted train services and closed schools, with India’s weather agency issuing its highest warning for the financial hub.
