Weeks after David Rose was killed while responding to a shooting this month at the CDC headquarters in Atlanta, officers are remembering the DeKalb County police officer as a courageous leader who prioritized family.

Hundreds paid tribute to David Rose, a police officer killed earlier this month when a gunman with a grudge against COVID-19 vaccines opened fire at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control headquarters in Atlanta.

Rose, 33, was shot and killed on Aug. 8 as a shooter opened fire on the CDC from Emory Point, a mixed-use development across the street. He previously served as a Marine and graduated from the DeKalb County Police Academy in September 2024.
