Peel Regional Police say an officer “acted within the lawful execution of his duties” when trying to de-escalate a violent protest in Brampton earlier this month, further suggesting a video that has been widely circulated online “lacks context.”

According to the videos of the incident on social media, an officer allegedly engaged physically with a protestor at the Brampton Hindu Temple.

Peel police have released body camera footage from a protest outside the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton earlier this month, and say it shows an officer lawfully disarming a demonstrator.
