Northwest Indiana deals with heavy snow, blistering winds in latest winter blast
Northwest Indiana was hit by heavy snow and strong winds while Chicago stayed clear and sunny. A 30-vehicle pileup shut down part of the Indiana Toll Road in Elkhart County, and lake-effect snow made travel difficult in Porter County. Bitter cold and dangerous wind chills remain in the area.
Our next round of snow will fall Thursday night with a fresh dusting to 2 inches of snow across the state. More snow showers are likely this weekend too.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Bands of lake-effect snow are forecast to continue in Northwest Indiana Thursday. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Porter County until noon. ABC7 Accuweather Meteorologist said an additional one to three inches of snow is possible. The lake-effect bands are also generating poor visibility.
Snow will fall right before the Friday morning drive. There will be some slick spots and potential school delays.
Forecasters say more snow could arrive late Thursday night, Jan. 15. Indiana's cold winter weather is predicted to stick around well into next week.
