The 49ers promoted Hodge to the active roster Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Hodge was on the field for the 27-7 win over the Rams in Week 1. He is now back on the active roster for the Week 2 meeting with Miami, though he will likely spend most of his time on special teams.

There are a handful of veterans the San Francisco 49ers released who should be in the mix to come back to the 53-man roster as free agents.
