William Nylander netted his second career hat trick and Matthew Knies collected one goal and one assist as the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs rode a four-goal second period to a 6-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs feel right at home in Wild Rose Country. Cheered on by their usual healthy chunk of fans in Alberta, the Leafs completed a sweep of the province with a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

Nylander has cranked his even-keel up a notch this season. He shrugged when asked recently about a three-game losing streak the Leafs were on, and a week or so later, he had a similar response when he was questioned about the club’s three-game winning streak at the time.

John Tavares, Bobby McMann and Matthew Knies also scored for Toronto, which pulled one point behind first-place Florida in the Atlantic Division. Auston Matthews had three assists and Joseph Woll stopped 23 shots.

When William Nylander lines up against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward will be in a different spot. It won't be in the middle, which the Maple Leafs tried during training camp but didn't stick with. It also won't be on the right wing of either Auston Matthews or John Tavares.
