MONROVIA, Calif. (AP) — A man fleeing immigration authorities outside a Home Depot store in Southern California was struck and killed by an SUV when he ran across a nearby freeway, officials said.

The city manager of Monrovia said someone fled the immigration activity at a Home Depot onto the 210 Freeway and was hit by a vehicle.

In his statement, Feik stressed that "there is no ongoing ICE activity reported in Monrovia" and urged the public not to call police lines for updates, saying such calls "delay responses to ongoing emergencies.
