President-elect Trump declared that TikTok is returning to the U.S. market, after its brief ban, during a pre-inauguration rally on Sunday under a new arrangement. This time, he told his supporters who gathered in Washington that he was aiming to create a deal in which the U.

Trump’s proposal exerted pressure on the entire tech ecosystem that makes TikTok available to U.S. users, including app store operators and service providers like Oracle which hosts its servers.

Trump announced the decision in a post on his Truth Social account as millions of TikTok users in the U.S. awoke to discover they could no longer access the TikTok app or platform. Google and Apple removed the app from their digital stores to comply with a federal law that required them to do so if TikTok parent company ByteDance didn't sell its U.
