TikTok content creators who make a living promoting their businesses and personal brands on the app were afraid Sunday that they would have to find new ways to engage consumers and make money as the app's future in the United States remained uncertain.

Born and raised in Albuquerque and graduating from Volcano Vista High School in 2018, TikTok creator Jaeden Gomez made waves when she created a dance in 2022 to Lizzo's song "About Damn Time." The dance gained more than 1 million likes and millions of views, leading to Gomez working directly with Lizzo.

"I think this push and pull ... is much bigger than just entertainment. It's really messing with real people's livelihoods," TikTok influencer Sarah Saragusa said.
