The United Nations will do all it can to help prevent food rations being cut for Rohingya refugees in camps in Bangladesh, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday during a visit to the world’s largest refugee settlement.

Bangladesh says repatriation of the refugees to Myanmar is the ultimate solution. The Buddhist-majority Myanmar has been accused in an international court of genocide against Rohingya. Complexities over verification and other diplomatic and political issues have made the future of the refugees bleak.

The leader of the United Nations and the chief of Bangladesh’s interim government were joined by about 100,000 Rohingya refugees for iftar – the meal to break the fast at sundown during Ramadan – at the Ukhia camp in Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
