In the first game at PNC Park after the accident, Pirates owner Bob Nutting acknowledged the fall in a statement read before the national anthem. He called it "one of the most difficult moments many of us have ever experienced" and thanked the medical staff and first responders who assisted Markwood.

Kavan Markwood, the Pirates fan who fell over the 21-foot high Clemente Wall at Pittsburgh's PNC Park last Wednesday, will be released from the hospital in about a week, he told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
