SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KFVS) - Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe is scheduled to attend a few events in the Heartland this week. It’s all part of a two-day visit. His first stop was at the Federal Courthouse in Cape Girardeau for a naturalization ceremony on Wednesday, August 20.
Gov. Mike Kehoe again commented on redistricting in Missouri at a news conference Tuesday, but the governor said he has not made a decision about whether he will call a special session on the topic.
Sen. Mike Cierpiot, a Lee’s Summit Republican, told The Star last week that any redistricting effort would have to be sustainable so Republicans don’t end up losing more districts in a future election year in which the GOP performs poorly.
The Kansas City Star reported that Kehoe discussed redistricting with multiple top Republicans in an early August meeting. Alex Riley, R-Springfield, the majority leader of the Missouri House of Representatives, was in that meeting and said he thinks it’s “pretty likely” Kehoe will call a special session.
