In a fiery speech, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) warned President Trump and Republicans that the Senate version of the sweeping “big, beautiful bill” will break a promise Trump made to not cut Medicaid. Tillis also announced Sunday that he will not seek re-election in 2026.

Several Democratic Senators made last-ditch attempts to weaken Republican attacks on wind and solar projects in the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act through a number of amendments that were handily defeated by the GOP overnight.

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) is offering an amendment that seeks to undo the latest hurdles for solar and wind energy that were added to the GOP megabill over the weekend. Ernst’s amendment would replace sections pertaining to the phaseout of subsidies for solar and wind.
