A major cold blast is in store for millions of Americans as a lobe of a polar vortex will bring brutally cold temperatures to nearly every American east of the Rockies.

A major Arctic outbreak is building, bringing below-freezing temperatures to more than 100 million Americans next week.

The southern row of counties are under an extreme cold watch for dangerously cold wind chills expected late Sunday to Wednesday morning. During that time period wind chills are expected to be as cold as 25 degrees below zero. This is the first issuance in Michigan of the new extreme cold watch.

On Saturday at 2:34 p.m. an extreme cold watch was issued by the NWS Morristown TN valid for Monday between midnight and 2 p.m.

The NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC issued an extreme cold watch at 3:39 p.m. on Saturday valid for Monday between midnight and noon. The watch is for Northern Jackson and Southern Jackson as well as Avery,
