By Akhtar Soomro BUNER, Pakistan (Reuters) -Residents of a northwestern Pakistani district where devastating floods have killed more than 200 people said on Monday they were too scared to go back to their deluged homes as authorities warned of more rains to come.

Rescuers recovered dozens more bodies from the rubble of collapsed homes in a northwestern district of Pakistan, bringing the death toll to at least 274, as authorities defended their response to the flooding and said they did not need any foreign help at this point.

A local official in the worst-affected Buner district told the BBC that at least 209 people were still missing there, but it is feared that number could rise. Rescue teams have buried eight unidentified bodies as there were no family members found alive to claim them,
